World Malaria Day

World Malaria Day is an international observance commemorated every year on April 25 and recognizes global efforts to control malaria.

The theme for World Malaria Day 2019 is “Zero malaria starts with me” and the day is hosted by the World Health Organization.

United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU) have signed a joint framework to strengthen the partnership in counter-terrorism efforts at the second EU-UN high-level political dialogue on Counter-Terrorism that was held in New York.

UN-EU initiative will focus on terrorism and violent extremism prevention in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, as well as support victims and promote the reintegration of terrorism offenders.

Kazakhstan has set up Coordinating Council to attract more foreign investments to improve the investment scenario in Kazakhstan.

RBI Becomes First APAC Central Bank to Begin Interest Rate Easing Cycle

According to the Fitch Ratings, The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has become the first central bank in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region to begin an explicit interest rate easing cycle.

The monetary policy committee led by Shaktikanta Das cut the repo rate by 0.25 percentage point in February 2019 and again by 0.25 percentage point in March 2019, taking the total repo rate down to 6 per cent.

This is the first back-to-back rate cut since the MPC was formed in late 2016.

RBI Sells Entire Stake in NABARD and NHB to Govt for Rs 1,470 Cr

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has exited the stake in National Housing Bank (NHB) and National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) by selling its entire stakes to government for Rs 1,450 crore and Rs 20 crore.

RBI has divested its entire stake in NABARD and NHB on February 26, 2019 and March 19, 2019 respectively.

With this, the Government of India now holds 100% stake in both the financial institutions.

German Scientists Create See-Through Human Organs Using 3D Tech

Scientists led by Ali Erturk at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Germany have developed a technique that uses a solvent to make three-dimensional human organs such as a human brain and kidneys transparent.

Then the organ is scanned by lasers in a microscope that allows researchers to capture the entire structure, including the blood vessels and every single cell in its specific location.

Using this blueprint, researchers print out the scaffold of the organ and then load the 3D printer.


India Finishes Fourth at Asian Athletics Championship 2019

India bagged four spot with 3 Gold, 7 Silver and 7 Bronze at the Asian Athletics Championships 2019 held at Doha in Qatar.

Bahrain topped the table with 11 Gold, 7 Silver and 4 Bronze. China was second with 10 Gold, 13 Silver and 7 Bronze, while Japan was third with 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 9 Bronze.

Tejinder Pal Singh Toor (Shot put), Gomathi Marimuthu (800 metres) and P. U. Chitra (1500 metres) won gold for India.
