India’s First Centre of Excellence for Drone Development to come up at IIT, Hyderabad

Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad has signed tripartite agreement between Japan-based Terra Drone Corporation, Terra Drone India to develop high speed drones.

According to the tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) drone development centre will be set up at IIT Hyderabad.

It will be India’s first-of-its-kind Centre of Excellence for drone development in India.

Asian Tea Alliance Launched in China

Asian Tea Alliance (ATA), a union of five tea-growing and consuming countries was launched in Guizhou, China to boost tea trade, cultural and technical exchanges as well as the global promotion of tea.

The members of the alliance are the Indian Tea Association, China Tea Marketing Association, Indonesian Tea Marketing Association, Sri Lanka Tea Board and Japan Tea Association.

Indian Navy Launches Guided Missile Destroyer Imphal

On 20th April 2019, Navy chief Admiral Sunil Lanba launched the third ship of Project 15B, a guided missile destroyer named Imphal at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders in Mumbai.

Ships under this project can carry and operate two multiple role helicopters.

India Ranked 17th in Startup Ecosystem Ranking

India has been ranked at 17th spot among 100 countries in the Startup Ecosystem Ranking for 2019 by StartupBlink. India has moved up 20 ranks from last year’s rank of 37.

The Startup Ecosystem Ranking has been topped by the United States, followed by the United Kingdom at second and Canada at third.

Sunil Kumar Gautam Bestowed With ‘Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Award’

Sunil Kumar Gautam, Special Commissioner of Police (Operations) has been awarded “Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Award” for his book “Samvidhan Kavya”.

The book presents the provisions of the Constitution in a simple and poetic form.

He was awarded by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Malayalam Film “Bhayanakam” Wins the Best Cinematography Award at Beijing International Film Festival

Malayalam film Bhayanakam, cinematographer Nikhil S Praveen has won the best cinematography award at the Beijing International Film Festival.

The film had also won the best cinematography award at the 65th National Film Awards.

IPR Cell of Kerala Agricultural University selected for National Intellectual Property Award 2019

The Intellectual Property Rights cell (IPR cell) of Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) has been selected for the National Intellectual Property Award 2019.

KAU IPR cell has been selected for the award in recognition of its contributions in best facilitation for registration of Geographical Indications and promotion of registered GI in the country.

The award comprises prize money of Rs 1 lakh, citation and memento will be presented on the occasion of World IP Day in New Delhi on April 26, 2019.

Scientists have detected the most ancient type of molecule, Helium hydride ion of universe in space for the first time ever.

Helium hydride ion (HeH+), the first molecule that formed almost 14 billion years ago was detected by NASA’s flying observatory SOFIA towards a planetary nebula.
