India Rebuilds Chhyoiphel Kundeling Monastery in Nepal
India rebuilds the Chhyoiphel Kundeling monastery at Lisankhu village in Nepal and was inaugurated by a Buddhist scholar Shyalpa Tenzing Rinpoche on 19th April 2019.
The Monastery has been reconstructed with Government of India grant of 18.9 million Nepalese rupees.
India and France to Hold Their Largest Naval Exercise ‘VARUNA’
India and France will conduct their largest ever bilateral naval exercise ‘Varuna’ off Goa coast from May 1, 2019.
India will deploy its aircraft carrier, INS Vikramaditya with its MiG-29K fighters and French side would be represented by its aircraft carrier FNS Charles de Gaulle with its Rafale-M naval jets.
Indian Navy warships to take part in Chinese fleet review
Two Indian Navy warships, namely the destroyer INS Kolkata and tanker INS Shakti would take part in Chinese international fleet review to be held at Qingdao on 23rd April 2019.
The celebrations are being held by the Chinese as part of the 70th Anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army’s Navy.

Exim Bank Funds Projects worth USD 267 mn in Rwanda
Exim Bank has provided soft loans of USD 266.60 million to Rwanda to support agricultural projects, development of special economic zones (SEZs) and for financing a road project.
Acording to the agreements, Exim Bank will provide USD 100 million for financing the development of SEZs; USD 100 million for financing agriculture project schemes and USD 66.60 million will be funded for the Base-Butaro-Kidaho Road Project.
Bank of Baroda, SEFL tie up for infra equipment loans
Bank of Baroda and Srei Equipment Finance Ltd (SEFL) have entered into tie up to offer joint loans for infrastructure equipment under a co-lending arrangement.
The two partners will use the platform of iQuippo, a digital marketplace, for loan origination, dues collection, auction and valuation of equipment.
Srei launched the iQuippo platform in 2016 to consolidate and digitalize the fragmented infrastructure equipment industry.
Airtel Payments Bank partners with Bharti AXA General Insurance for two-wheeler insurance
On 19th April 2019, Airtel Payments Bank has teamed up with Bharti AXA General Insurance for two-wheeler insurance to its customers across India.
The offering entails personal accident cover, protection against third-party liabilities and inspection-free renewal through a fast, paperless process.

Cipla chairman Hamied receives UK Royal Society honour
Chairman of pharmaceutical major Cipla, Yusuf Hamied has been honoured in the 2019 list of new fellows of the UK’s Royal Society for his service to the cause of science.
He has been instrumental in the growth and development, implementation and adoption of science in indigenous pharma industry in India over the past six decades.
The Royal Society is an independent scientific academy of the UK and the Commonwealth, dedicated to promoting excellence in science.

Suhel Ajaz Khan appointed As Ambassador of India to Lebanon
External Affairs Ministry has appointed Suhel Ajaz Khan as India’s next Ambassador to the Republic of Lebanon. He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
He is presently Deputy Chief of Mission in the Embassy of India, Riyadh.
NASA’s First Female Astronaut Candidate Jerrie Cobb Passes Away
America’s first female astronaut candidate, pilot Jerrie Cobb passed away in Florida at the age of 88.
In 1961, Cobb became the first woman to pass astronaut testing. Altogether, 13 women passed the arduous physical testing and became known as the Mercury 13. None of the Mercury 13 ever reached space.
She served as a humanitarian aid pilot in the Amazon jungle for decades.
