UAE to host world’s foremost Artificial Intelligence Summit
UAE is set to host the world’s foremost Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit from April 30 to May 1, 2019.
It aims to empower global dialogue on the future of government, business and society.
The inaugural ‘AI Everything’, AIE will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The summit will be hosted by the UAE National Programme for Artificial Intelligence, with the support of International Telecommunication Union, ITU, and the World Intellectual Property Organisation, WIPO, and in strategic partnership with Smart Dubai.
China Successfully Tests World’s First Armed Amphibious Drone Ship
China has successfully tested the world’s first armed amphibious drone ship named Marine Lizard.
It is used in land assault operations and is capable of forming a combat triad with aerial drones and other drone ships.
It was built by Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group under China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC).
Egypt Unveils Colourful Fifth Dynasty Tomb
In a major archaeological discovery, Egypt unveiled the tomb of a Fifth Dynasty official adorned with colourful reliefs and well preserved inscriptions.
The tomb belongs to a senior official, Khuwy who is believed to have been a nobleman during the Fifth Dynasty, which ruled over Egypt about 4300 years ago.

FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) in collaboration with Bharti Airtel has launched a mobile app “My Circle” for women’s safety.
The app has SOS Alert button, using it a woman can send SOS alert with their current location over SMS to their any 5 family members or friends.

BK Nayak Appointed FIH Health and Safety Committee Chair
Bibhu Kalyan Nayak was appointed as the Chair of International Hockey Federation (FIH) Health and Safety Committee by the world governing body.
He is the first Indian to have been nominated to this prestigious post and will serve a two-year term.

World’s Largest Plane Makes First Test Flight
The world’s largest airplane, Stratolaunch with two fuselages and 6 Boeing 747 engines has made its first test flight in California. It carried out its maiden voyage over the Mojave Desert.
The plane is built by Stratolaunch Systems Corp. It is designed to carry into space and drop a rocket that would, in turn, ignite to deploy satellites.
The wingspan of the plane is 117 m. In its test flight, the Plane flew up to 4,572 m and reached a top speed of about 274 km per hour.
DRDO Successfully Test-Fired First Sub-Sonic Cruise Missile ‘Nirbhay’ in Odisha
On 15th April 2019, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test fired indigenously designed & developed long range sub-sonic cruise missile “Nirbhay” from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) Chandipur, Odisha.
The missile has a range of 700 km to 1,000 km will definitely provide a boost to India’s defence power.
Lewis Hamilton Wins 2019 Chinese Grand Prix
On 14th April 2019, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) has won the 2019 Chinese Grand Prix title for a record sixth time held at Shanghai International Circuit, China.
He also claimed a landmark 75th career F1 victory and overall 1000th win in F1 race overall.
Valtteri Bottas was second while Sebastian Vettel took third place.
Meena Kumari Maisnam Clinches Gold in Boxing World Cup
Meena Kumari Maisnam clinches gold in the 54 kg Boxing World Cup held in Cologne, Germany.
Sakshi (57 kg) and Pwilao Basumatary (64 kg) settled for the silver while Pinki Rani (51 kg) and Parveen (60 kg) won bronze.
With all this India finished with 5 medals in the Boxing World Cup.
Abrha Milaw and Gelete Burka Win 2019 Paris Marathon
On 14th April 2019, Ethiopian athletes Abrha Milaw (men’s race) and Gelete Burka (women’s race) won the 43rd edition of the Paris Marathon.
Milaw won the men’s race with a time of 2 hours 07 minutes and 50 seconds. Burka won the men’s race with a time of 2 hours 22 minutes and 48 seconds.
In the wheelchair race, Julien Casoli won for a third time at a time of 1 hour 36 minutes and 57 seconds.
Tiger Woods wins 2019 Masters to claim 15th major Title
American professional golfer, Tiger Woods (Eldrick Tont Woods) clinched his fifth Masters and 15th major title by finishing one shot ahead of Dustin Johnson, Xander Schauffele and Brooks Koepkaat Augusta at National Golf Club, Georgia.
This was Woods’ first Masters Victory since 2005. Also he joins Nicklaus as the only player to have won the Masters in three different decades.
