Indian Navy Sets Up Virtual Reality Centre to Design Warships
On 12th April 2019, A new state-of-the-art, Virtual Reality Centre (VRC) of the Navy was inaugurated by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba in New Delhi.
Virtual Reality Centre (VRC) will provide a major boost to indigenous warship design capabilities of the Indian Navy.
Also it would provide impetus to self-reliance and greater fillip to warship construction under ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Colgate Partners with Metro Cash & Carry India for ‘Save Water’ Awareness Program
Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited and India’s leading organized Wholesaler, METRO Cash and Carry have collaborated for a ‘Save Water’ Awareness program for business customers across 27 METRO Cash & Carry stores in the country.
The awareness program aims to create awareness about water conservation efforts, and address critical issues of water inaccessibility across geographies in India.
UNSC Votes to End Peacekeeping Operations in Haiti
On 12th April 2019, UN Security Council has voted unanimously to completely end its peacekeeping operations in Haiti, a country in North America and establish a political mission to support government efforts to promote order and development.
The resolution approved gives a final six-month period for political mission to plan its operations.
UN military peacekeepers had already left the country on 15th October 2017.

HDFC Bank Ranked Indian’s No 1 Bank in World’s Best Banks Survey by Forbes
India’s largest private sector lender, HDFC Bank has been ranked as No 1 in India based on customer satisfaction in the first edition of the ‘World’s Best Banks’ survey by Forbes magazine.
ICICI Bank stood at second place followed by DBS at third in Forbes list for India.
Forbes has compiled a list of the best banks in India by taking customer-centric metrics into consideration. Customers rate banks on trust, fees, digital services and financial advice.

CMFRI and ISRO Sign MoU to Protect Coastal Wetlands
The Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have joined hands to protect smaller wetlands in coastal region aimed at restoring them through coastal livelihood programmes.
A MoU was signed to develop a mobile app and a web portal to have a comprehensive database of wetlands in the country and for real-time monitoring of the wetlands.
The MoU aims to identify and demarcate wetlands, and restore the degraded wetlands.

Alice G. Vaidyan, the Chairman and Managing Director of the General Insurance Corporation (GIC) of India have been awarded with the ‘Freedom of the City of London’ in recognition of her work to promote insurance ties between India and the UK.

Nitin Chugh, digital banking head of private sector lender HDFC Bank is likely to be appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank.
He is to succeed Samit Ghosh, who will retire in November 2019.

AITA signs MoU with STF to train Indian junior players
The All India Tennis Association (AITA) has signed a MoU with Serbian Tennis Federation (STF) to train Indian junior players under world-renowned Serbian coaches at R.K. Khanna Tennis Complex in New Delhi.
Also both agreed to work on the education of officials, coaches and physical trainers and their exchange for tournaments.
